Valentine's Sugar Cookies

Royal Icing

Ingredients

  • 4 cups sifted confectioner's sugar
  • 3 tbsp meringue powder
  • 5-8 tbsp room temperature water

Instructions

  1. 1. In a large bowl mix together confectioner's sugar and meringue powder.

  2. 2. Add in water and mix with hand mixer or stand mixer with whisk attachment. Check your consistency by lifting whisk (or with a spoon) and drizzle frosting down and the frosting should smooth out within 15-20 seconds. Flood consistency is when it icing self-levels. If frosting is too thick then add in more water. If frosting is too runny then add in more confectioner's sugar.

  3. 3. If coloring icing then use gel food colors.

  4. 4. Pipe or spread on to cookies. *If layering colors or designs, after 15-30 minutes icing will have formed a crust. Royal icing will completely set in 2-4 hours.

DIY Dollar Tree Valentine’s Decor

DIY Valentine's Rag Wreath

It’s almost Valentine’s Day! I know there are a lot of mixed feelings about Valentine’s Day, but I think it is a great way to remind your loved ones how much they mean to you. I don’t deck my house out with tons of Valentine decor like I do for Thanksgiving and Christmas. However, I do decorate a shelf or table top. I don’t have a fireplace mantel or I would most definitely place them on top of it.

DIY Dollar Tree Valentine's Decor

It isn’t a holiday that I spend a lot of money on for home decor and I wanted to do a little decorating. So I put together 6 DIY Valentine’s decor projects using Dollar Tree items. I think they all turned out great and you can’t even tell they were made using Dollar Tree items. I put together a video showing you all 6 projects and they are all super easy to make. You can find the video below the photos of the items that I created.

DIY NEW YEAR’S PHOTO BOOTH PICTURE FRAME

New Year’s is almost here and that means many get togethers are to be had. That also means there will be a lot of photos taken. Set up a space specifically for themed photos by hanging a back drop on the wall for the background. You can find the gold fringe back drop here. Also, gather party props such as feather boas, hats, glasses and etc. I really like the photo booth picture frames. They really bring it all together and they are really easy to make. Watch the video below to learn how to make one for your New Year’s Eve party.

Simple Farmhouse Clay Ornaments

Farmhouse Clay Ornaments

Simple Farmhouse Clay Ornaments
Farmhouse Clay Ornaments

These simple farmhouse Christmas clay ornaments are super easy to make. You just need oven bake clay or air dry clay, ribbon, letter stamps and black paint. Or you can use a paint marker and write your own lettering on. Below I have a video tutorial showing you exactly how I made these.

Supplies
Sculpey Oven-bake Clay – White
Ribbon
Circle Cookie Cutter
Letter Stamps
Black Acyrlic Paint

Directions:
1. Knead clay according to package directions.
2. Roll out clay and cut out circle shapes with circle cookie cutter.
3. Stamp wording with letter stamps
4. Make a small hole about 1/8″ from top of clay circle. Make the hole large enough to thread ribbon through for hanging.
5. Place on baking sheet and bake according to package directions. If you use air dry clay then baking will not be required.
6. Once ornaments have baked take black paint and paint in the letters. If you prefer to use paint markers or a sharpie then you can but make sure it has a fine tip.
7. Thread ribbon through.
8. Hang on Christmas tree or package and enjoy!
