Flower Crown Tutorial

Flower Crown Tutorial

Recently, I planned a photo session with my daughter and her best friend. I love flower crowns and I really wanted these photos to be super sweet and include them. During my search for flower crowns, I seen how expensive they were and I really didn’t want to spend a lot of money on something that the girls would probably only wear one time.

Since I didn’t want to spend a lot of money, I decided to make them myself. It really isn’t that hard to do at all. The hardest part of the project I found to be was the floral tape and how sticky it would get. Other than that, it was a piece of cake. I’m sure you can use hot glue and just glue the flowers instead. I really didn’t want to deal with hot glue and I feel the floral tape makes an overall cleaner job and appearance.

I really love how they turned out. I used 4 different faux flowers from Hobby Lobby, 18″ floral stem wire, floral tape and ribbon. You can pretty much get all of those supplies from the dollar store as well and make it even more budget friendly. Below I have a video tutorial showing you how I made these. Don’t forget to like, share and subscribe.

DIY Dollar Tree Spring Home Decor

If you are on a budget but still would like to decorate your home for Spring then you don’t want to miss today’s video tutorial. Today I am showing you  how to make these beautiful home decor items using Dollar Tree supplies. These all 3 turned out beautiful and you can’t even tell that most of the supplies were from the Dollar Tree. How awesome is that? The video tutorial is down below if you want to see how these were created.

Love Blooms Here Printable, DIY Dollar Tree Spring Decor

This Love Blooms Here sign is super easy to make. I just used a Dollar Tree frame that I painted white, along with a Dollar Tree carnation flower stem and a print I created and printed out. You can download that free printable as well. Note: The printable is for personal use only. You may not use it for any commercial purpose, sell it or sell any work derived from it.

DIY Dollar Tree Spring Wreath, DIY Spring Wreath

This Spring wreath was made by using a Dollar Tree willow 12″ wreath form that I spray painted white and a stem of Dollar Tree pink peonies. Peonies are one of my most favorite flowers and they look perfect on this wreath form. For the bow I used burlap ribbon from my local craft store. Dollar Tree does offer burlap ribbon, but I prefer the color and look of my regular craft store ribbon.

DIY Dollar Tree Moss Topiary

The moss ball topiaries are so gorgeous, I can hardly believe it myself these were made using Dollar Tree supplies. I mean just look at them! For these I used 2 styrofoam balls, 2 succulent mini plants, dowel stick, floral moss, 1 flower stem with small white flowers, spray adhesive and brown acrylic paint.

  2. 2. Place butter and sugar in mixing bowl and cream together.

  3. 3. Mix in eggs until combined.

  5. 5. Combine flour mixture to the creamed butter mixture and beat on medium speed until dough forms and pulls away from sides of bowl.

  6. 6. Add in the vanilla extract and mix.

  7. 7. Roll dough out between 2 sheets of parchment paper to 1/4" thickness.

  8. 8. Cut out your cookies with cookies cutters or free form shapes.

Valentine's Sugar Cookies

Royal Icing

Ingredients

  • 4 cups sifted confectioner's sugar
  • 3 tbsp meringue powder
  • 5-8 tbsp room temperature water

Instructions

  1. 1. In a large bowl mix together confectioner's sugar and meringue powder.

  2. 2. Add in water and mix with hand mixer or stand mixer with whisk attachment. Check your consistency by lifting whisk (or with a spoon) and drizzle frosting down and the frosting should smooth out within 15-20 seconds. Flood consistency is when it icing self-levels. If frosting is too thick then add in more water. If frosting is too runny then add in more confectioner's sugar.

  3. 3. If coloring icing then use gel food colors.

  4. 4. Pipe or spread on to cookies. *If layering colors or designs, after 15-30 minutes icing will have formed a crust. Royal icing will completely set in 2-4 hours.
